Colt Officer Model Match MK III
Is anyone familiar with the Colt Officer Model Match MK III .38 special? I recently purchased one, however, I don't know very much about it. It is unfired, however, I do not have the original box.

Yes, Colt built about 500 of these and most (about 350) were shipped overseas. They were made in 1970 and are seldom encountered so they make a nice collector piece. There success was short as most buyers went for the Python since it was offered at that time. They are a finely finished gun and exhibit a rich high luster blue that is second to none. Congratulations on finding a highly collectable Colt.

Thanks, I looked all over the internet and couldn't really find any information on this pistol. Other than verifying that the pistol was made in 1970, Colt did not provide much of any information. Based upon what you are telling me, there are very few remaining in the US? Do you know how I could determine the approximate value of this pistol?
Does anyone have any idea if there is a web site with pictures and/or other information?
I would post a picture, however, I don't know how to post it on here.

You are correct, there are very few of these here in the U.S. When Colt made these they shipped about 350 of them to Europe leaving less than 150 here in the U.S. The current value of one of these that is NIB is about $1800. There is not much information available on this gun and it is really a sleeper in the collecting world.
